MEET VOODOO!

Spirit is a purebred Rottweiler rescued from the pound.  She should be a huge Rott as she is very large but she weighs only
67 lbs.  She is literally fur stretched over bones and you can see every single bone in her body.  Even her eyes are sunken
and her skull is very prominent.  She was incredibly dirty and full of fleas but despite all of this, she has an amazingly sweet
disposition.  Spirit has a long road to recovery as she has been quite depleted.  There's just not much further she can go
backwards before death.  She will need extensive testing to see if there is any organ damage and to find out if there is an
underlying medical condition that could be causing her emaciated state.  Please keep Spirit in your prayers.

UPDATE:  3/8/10:  Shortly after arrival, Spirit quickly developed symptoms of kennel cough due to her exposure at the
pound.  We are watching her closely as this could certainly become very serious for her in her current condition.  She is
scheduled for a vet visit and blood work on Friday, March 12th.  She is also tentatively scheduled for spaying on May 27th
after her condition has improved and she is safe for surgery.  Otherwise she is doing very well and seems to be happy
despite being weak.  She is definitely housebroken which is really nice and she eats well.  She did throw up in my living
room yesterday but hopefully this was an isolated incident.

UPDATE 3/21/10:  Spirit is doing very well.  She has recovered from her kennel cough and diarrhea and has also gained
15 lbs.  The vet was only able to draw 4 DROPS of blood from Spirit during her office visit due to her emaciated state and
low blood pressure so we were only able to do a heartworm check on her, which was negative.  The remaining tests will
have to wait until her condition improves.  Her spine and hip bones are still quite prominent but her ribs are looking better
and you can tell that she feels better because she is getting a little spunk and playfulness to her now.  See her new pics
below!

UPDATE 4/2/10:  Spirit, nka Voodoo, now weighs 90 lbs.  She is doing really great though needs to gain quite a bit more
weight yet.  Her backbone and hip bones are still prominent but her ribs have filled out nicely.  She has adjusted very well to
our family and we have grown quite attached to her so her forever home is going to be with us.  She is a very happy dog and
loves her therapeutic foam bed.  She loves to go places with me in the van and just hops right in.   She's an absolutely
perfect dog.  She is showing some signs of hip problems so she will be having x-rays done once her condition has
stabilized more and we have started her on glucosamine to help preserve what she's got.

UPDATE:  6/17/10:  Voodoo is doing great!!  She now weighs 110 lbs and is a wonderful, loving dog.  Her health has
improved very nicely though she does have some back leg issues.  That's okay, we love her anyways!!

UPDATE:  8/29/10:  Voodoo is fabulous and weighing in at about 135 lbs now.  She is happy, healthy, and very much
loved!  See her new photos below.
