MEET LAYLA! ADOPTION PENDING!
Layla is a purebred Sheltie that is 5 years old and was an owner surrender after the owner's adult autistic son severely beat
the dog. Layla is very overweight at 33 lbs and she waddles. Her back legs buckle probably due to the excess weight so
first on our agenda is to get some weight off of her. She also needs to be spayed and will get her teeth checked at that time
as it is apparent she needs some dental work done. She is housebroken to a doggie door, is excellent with people
(including kids) as well as other dogs. She is very laid back, LOVES ATTENTION and will nudge your hand with her nose if
you stop petting her. She is also QUIET which is amazing for a Sheltie. :) She is such a wonderful dog and deserves a
better life. Hopefully someone will give her a chance at a great home despite her physical short comings. She's just a
sweet, gentle, unassuming girl who is quiet and a little shy who just wants attention. She doesn't get into anything and is very
well behaved (she knows how to shake). She has never been on a leash before so does need work on walking on a leash
but her head is so tiny that she slips her head out of a collar very easy. After she loses some weight, she would benefit from
a harness to start leash training. Once she gets her weight down and all of her procedures completed, she will be ready for
adoption.
Adoption fee is $295.
Care package contains her health card documenting all of her care (shots, dewormings, etc.) starter bag of food, and
Care/Training Guide.
ALL dogs and puppies in our rescue are treated prophylactically for giardia and coccidia because it is such a
huge problem. They are also treated with flea and tick prevention as well. These treatments are NOT cheap but
we feel they are important for the well being of the dog. We also strictly follow the AAHA and CAPC Shelter
Guidelines for vaccinations and parasite control. Each dog receives a 5 day treatment of fenbendazole which
provides coverage for roundworms, hookworms, and whipworms as well as giardia (commonly found in pond
water). Each dog is also treated with praziquantel for tapeworms and also prophylactic treatment for coccidia.
We do everything we can to ensure that the puppies go to their new homes healthy.
Shots include distemper, hepatitis, adeno 2, parainfluenza and parvo, as well as bordetella (kennel cough). They have been
dewormed with pyrantel pamoate (roundworms, hookworms) as well as praziquantel for tapeworms and ponazuril for
prophylactic coccidia treatment.
If you feel that you could offer any of these babies the loving, nurturing home that they deserve, please fill out an adoption
application for consideration.
